New Jersey Italian Heritage Commission to Exhibit at NJEA Convention in Atlantic City November 6 & 7th

 

Trenton, NJ — October 31, 2025 — The New Jersey Italian Heritage Commission (NJIHC) will exhibit at this year’s New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) Convention in Atlantic City, highlighting its inclusive K–12 curriculum and unveiling its new “Italian Women” lesson series.

The NJIHC’s exhibit will provide educators with innovative teaching tools that promote cultural understanding, inclusion, and appreciation for the contributions of Italian and Italian American communities throughout history.

Executive Director Margaret Fontana will also represent the Commission as a featured panelist on the New Jersey Department of Education’s “Commissions In Conversation on Inclusive Curriculum” panel, scheduled for Thursday, November 6 at 4:00 PM on the Consortium Stage, Exhibit Hall Floor.

“The NJEA Convention is an ideal platform to showcase how an inclusive curriculum helps students connect with culture and identity in meaningful ways,” said Margaret Fontana, Executive Director of the NJIHC. “We’re proud to share resources that celebrate diversity and support New Jersey educators.”

Educators and attendees are encouraged to visit the NJIHC exhibit booth to explore lesson plans, classroom resources, and initiatives that align with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Social Studies and World Languages.
