Blaxploitalian: 100 Years of Blackness in the Italian Cinema

March 8, 2016 @ 4:30 pm

Free

Join us for a viewing of a diasporic, hybrid, critical, and cosmopolitan dimension documentary that uncovers the careers of a population of entertainers seldom heard from before: Black actors in Italian cinema. Documentary followed by questions and answers. Sponsored by the Rutgers University Department of Italian.

Fred “Kudjo”, an activist-producer-writer-director, was born and raised in Italy and based in Brooklyn. In 2012, he released “18 IUS SOLI” which examines multiculturalism in Italy but also specifically looks at questions of citizenship or the one million children of immigrants born and raised in Italy but are not yet Italian citizens. Join us for a viewing of his latest documentary.
