Finding the Mother Lode: Italian Immigrants in California

October 15, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Join us for a screening of “Finding the Mother Lode” (2013) by filmmakers Gianfranco Norelli and Suma Kurien, which explores the story of Italians who first came to California in large numbers with the Gold Rush and, though they found little gold, they did find a “mother lode” in farming, fishing, commerce and wine-making. This documentary highlights the experience of Italian immigrants in California, which was markedly different from that of their compatriots elsewhere in the United States. Light refreshments will be served.

Tours of the Museum will also be available, the exhibits Through the Lens of Liberty: Healing in Freedom, Blooming through Expression by Durga Tree International and Original Artwork by Alphonso Dunn and students will be on view, and the Museum Store will be open for browsing and shopping.
